About Me
My name is Jana Hardy and I am just your basic white girl. I am about as
average as they come. But lets start at the beginning. I was born in Stuttgart,
Germany. My dad was in the military and was born on an army base so I can still
run for president. Unfortunately, I do not have duel citizenship, thanks for
asking though.
I am the
third child in my family. I have two older sisters with one younger sister and
a younger brother. My parents have been happily married for almost 30
years.
With my siblings,
all of our names start with the letter 'J'. Jacki is the oldest. She has been
living in Oregon for the last 4 years and is planning on marrying her
girlfriend, Kailyn, in April this year. Joselyn is the next oldest sister. She
has been married to her husband, Jacob, for 6 years and they have 2 girls with
a little boy joining them in February. Jenni is my younger sister who is
currently on a mission serving in the Winnipeg, Canada mission. She will be
home in March and I am so excited to see her again. My little brother Jake is a
junior in high school and just recently got a job at Crumble Cookie.
As a kid, living
in Germany, I was only 4 when we left so honestly I dont remember anything
about being there. We moved to Georgia after Germany and we were there for two
years. I do remember that place and lots of fun I had there. After Georgia we
were off to Tennessee. I remember making lots of friends there and was old
enough at the time to start going to elementary school.
I remember watching a movie we rented from Blockbuster called Tremors.
It was about these giant monsters that lived in the desert and came out of the
ground to consume anything and everything they could. As a 7 year old, it was
one of the most terrifying movies I had ever seen. I told my dad, “I am never
going to live in the desert.” That is when he proceeded to tell me that we were
moving and we were going to be in a desert. An unbearably hot place way across
the United States that we drove to called Arizona.
I have lived in Arizona for the last 15 years of my life. When we first
got to Arizona, we lived in a rental house while our actual house was being
built. We biked to school and it was really nice to live so close to the elementary.
Once we moved into our finished house, I started going to a different school therefore
I was forced to make new friends. We have been in that same house for the last
13 years. I absolutely love that house. It just screams ‘home’ to me.
When we first moved in to that house there was a cornfield behind our house
and a cow farm on the next street over. Now there is a neighborhood behind us plus
a little shopping center. The Gilbert Temple was also built on the same block
as our house which makes me so very happy.
I graduated high school from Higley High which is about 5 minutes from
my house. My two older sisters graduated from there as well as my younger
sister and probably my younger brother will too.
I did cosmetology school while attending high school and was able to get
my haircutting license. By doing that I was able to work right out of high
school at a few different salons, having very different experiences at each.
The first salon I was at was super fancy. Very high class and lavish. Then I moved to a salon closer to home that was so ghetto, the lady got
kicked out of the building for failing to pay for rent and utilities so often. She
still owes me money. I ended up getting an assisting job at a pretty ritzy salon
in the local mall and also worked as a stylist for a franchise salon chain.
I had only been working for about 7 or 8 months before I got the
impression to serve a mission. I was called to serve in the Minnesota Minneapolis
Mission. It was hard and it was cold. But it was the best thing for me. God
knew I needed to grow closer to Him.
After my mission, I felt like going to school would be a good option for
me. I started attending BYUI in the fall of 2019. While here, I have learned a
lot and have made lots of friends. It has been a mostly good experience. COVID
kind of wrecked it last year.
